Kyle & Kayla were married on July 3, 2017 at the Grand Canadian Theatre in Purcell, OK.
Kyle and Kayla met when his family moved to town when Kayla was in 8th grade. Kayla and Allyson, Kyle's sister, became best friends almost instantly. Since Kayla and Allyson were best friends, Kyle and Kayla ended up spending a lot of time together, and she always thought he was cute, but Kyle was older, and wasn't interested in his little sister's friend.
Around the time that Kayla was deciding where to go to college, she and Kyle had been texting and chatting on Facebook off and on. However, Kayla decided to play college softball in Omaha, NE, and she had no interest in dating someone long distance. Throughout that year, she came home several times, and each time, found herself hanging out with Kyle.
After Kayla's freshman year was over, she felt like Omaha was not the right place for her, and wanted to move back home to play for SNU. With this move, it allowed Kyle and Kayla to spend more time together, and before they knew it, they were going on lots of dates. Pretty soon, Kyle asked Kayla to officially be his girlfriend, and she, of course, said yes.
Their first official date after Kyle asked her to be his girlfriend, he picked her up from her parent's house, and instead of just sending her a text to come outside, he actually walked to the front door to get her. That was the first moment Kayla thought to herself "I love him."
For Valentine's Day, Kyle planned a date in Bricktown: a nice dinner at KD's. They weren't hungry yet when they got to Bricktown, so they decided to wander around Bass Pro Shops and the Bricktown canal. They stopped to sit down several times, since Kayla's shoes were making her feet hurt. At one of their stops, Kyle slid down on one knee and asked Kayla to spend the rest of her life with him. She was so suprised that she cried and hugged him so tight. That moment was such a blur, that neither are certain if she actually said yes!
Kayla has envisioned wearing cowboy boots with her wedding dress since she was old enough to realize that she would grow up and get married some day. She wanted to show off her girly side, but also wear her boots- a little bit rustic, but not too country, "boots & bling" was her inspiration. She wanted a fun, special and beautiful day filled with family and friends celebrating with her and Kyle. She used navy, dark red and shiny neutrals (gold, rose gold, etc.)
Kayla's advice to other brides is to have fun during the planning process! Make memories from every second that you spend on your special day. Don't worry or be anxious about it. She said her favorite bible verse has guided her through this process: "Do not be anxious about anything." -Philippians 4:6
